KWASUTH Trains Cleaners on Infection Prevention Standards

The management of the Kwara State University Teaching Hospital (KWASUTH) has reiterated its commitment to strengthening standard cleaning and infection control procedures to sustain a hygienic hospital environment.

The Chief Medical Director, Dr. Bola Ahmed, stated this during a workshop organised by the Infection Prevention and Control Team (IPCT) in collaboration with the Environmental Department, held at the KWASUTH Seminar Room. He was represented at the event by the Deputy Chief Medical Director, Dr Ismail Obalowu.

According to Dr Ahmed, the training was organised for hospital cleaners to enhance their understanding of standard cleaning practices and infection-control measures, promoting a safe and healthy environment for patients, staff, and visitors. He charged the cleaners to strictly adhere to established cleaning protocols to prevent avoidable health risks.

The CMD further assured participants of the management’s continued support for initiatives that promote safety, cleanliness, and effective infection control within the hospital.

In her presentation, Nurse Elizabeth Alo of the IPCT educated participants on proper solution-mixing procedures and stressed the importance of personal hygiene in preventing the spread of infections. Nurse Bamikole Toluwalase, also of the IPCT, reinforced the session and encouraged the cleaners to seek clarification whenever they were unsure of procedures.

The workshop was well attended by top management staff, hospital cleaners, and other key stakeholders.
